Consultation has concluded on this project. The County of Grande Prairie adopted the Town of Beaverlodge Intermunicipal Development Plan as Bylaw 3227 on June 11, 2024.

The County of Grande Prairie, in partnership with the town Beaverlodge has engaged ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. to prepare an Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) between the two municipalities. The project began in 2018 and was put on hold in 2019. The municipalities resumed the project in 2022.

This plan is intended to address future growth opportunities and other development-related matters of joint interest between the municipalities.

Community engagement will occur at major milestones during the development of the IDP. Plan Area landowners, residents and other stakeholders will have key roles in the preparation of the IDP. Your participation and feedback is important to help inform and shape the creation of the visions, land use policies and land use concepts for the Intermunicipal Development Plan. There will be multiple opportunities for you to participate.

    Councils for the County of Grande Prairie and the Town of Beaverlodge have adopted the Intermunicipal Development Plan as bylaws.

    A Public Hearing was held on May 22nd, 2024, where municipal staff and a representative from ISL Engineering presented the proposed Intermunicipal Development Plan to both Councils. At the hearing, members of the public also had the opportunity to speak in order to provide their comments to both Councils.

    The County adopted the IDP as a bylaw on June 11, 2024. The Town adopted the IDP as a bylaw on June 24, 2024.

    The Intermunicipal Development Plan will guide development around the Town boundaries and help to guide both municipalities' decision on services and infrastructure in the area over the coming years.

    The County of Grande Prairie and the Town of Beaverlodge are holding a joint Council meeting with a Public Hearing to consider adopting the IDP.

    A Public Hearing is a public meeting where there is a presentation explaining the proposed IDP, members of the public have the opportunity to speak to support or oppose the proposed IDP, and Council deliberates the merits of the proposal and may choose to adopt it as a bylaw.

    The draft IDP document is available for review in the 'Document Library' on the right side of this page. Members of the public can provide feedback on the proposed IDP by e-mailing plan@countygp.ab.ca, or by calling the Planning Department at 780-513-3950. Written submissions will be included as part of the package provided to the Councils for information to support their consideration of the document.
