The County and ISL will be using Online Census, a software solution used by more than 50 Alberta municipalities over the past 15 years to successfully conduct over 200 municipal censuses.

All data collected from individual residents through the census is protected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection (FOIPP) Act and will not be published.
Most Personal Identification Number (PIN) cards should be distributed to County residences by April 9. All remaining PIN cards will be distributed by April 26. If you haven’t received a PIN card by April 26, please call the County’s Census Coordinator at 587-726-1686.
Why is the County conducting a municipal census in 2024?
The County took over responsibility of the dissolved Village of Hythe in 2021, and as a result, the Government of Alberta requires that the County review its number of councillors and electoral division boundaries before the 2025 municipal election to determine whether growth or decline has created a population imbalance among divisions.
What is the difference between the municipal census and the federal census?
The County conducts a count of its residents by way of a municipal census when directed by County Council. In the past two decades, the County conducted its own municipal censuses in 2006 and in 2012. Statistics Canada conducts a federal (Canada-wide) census every five years with the last one taking place in 2021.

Who is conducting the municipal census?
The County awarded the municipal census project, and the associated electoral boundary review, to ISL – a firm with an office in Grande Prairie, headquartered in Edmonton.
Can I become a municipal census worker?

How secure will my census information be once collected by the County?
Please note: Census workers will be early. The PIN cards say that door knocking will start on April 20, but this will now begin on April 15.
Due to the size of the County and the number of residences the census workers need to visit, the County has decided to start census workers (enumerators) and the door-to-door census collection on April 15.

I live in a Seniors Home. How will I complete the census?
Seniors Homes are being done as a collective with the facility manager providing all the information to the Census Coordinator.
